Morphology

Scapes8-20 cm, terete.
Leavessessile.
Blades6.5-12 cm long x 5-7.8 cm wide, mottled, mottling fading with age.
Flowersessile.
Sepals45-50 mm long x 8-12 mm wide.
Petals30-55 mm long, purple, maroon, red, or yellowish green, not spirally twisted.
Anthers8-15 mm long, with latrorse dehiscence.
Ovary6.3-11 mm long, hexagonal.
Stigmas1.5-5 mm long,distinct.

Anthesis

Flowering from late February to April.


Distribution

United States: Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.
