Petals25-50 mm long x 8-35 mm wide, white (rarely bicolored rose or purple with white).
Anthers12-16 mm long, purple, with introrse dehiscence.
Ovary14-17 mm long, hexagonal.
Stigmas2-5 mm long, distinct.

Anthesis

Flowering from April to May.


Distribution

United States: Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
