Morphology

Scapes 10-52 cm tall.
Leaves sessile.
Blades 3-17 cm long x 2.5-17 cm wide, tip acute to acuminate.
Flower pedicellate, erect.
Sepals 20-40 mm long x 5-20 mm wide, reddish, purplish, brownish, or green, often with purplish markings.
Petals white or cream, not spirally twisted, 20-45 mm long x 8-35 mm wide.
Anthers 6-15 mm long.
Ovary 9-20 mm long, hexagonal.

Anthesis

Flowering from early May to July.


Distribution

China, Japan, Korea, and Sakhalin Island (Russia).
