Description
An annual, Panicoid grass to 100 cm tall. Ligule 0.1-0.7 mm long, composed of a membrane. Sheaths, collars, and blades glabrous.
Panicles contracted, spikelike, 0.5-13 cm long. The primary branches are partially fused to the rachis. Spikelets 2.1-3.3 mm long, 2-flowered; the lower floret sterile or staminte; the upper floret bisexual. Lower glumes 3-7-veined; upper glumes 9-veined, gibbous to saccate. Upper lemma white and shiny.
