Description

A Panicoid grass to 100 cm tall. Ligules 0.5-1 mm long, composed of hairs.

Inflorescence composed of racemosely-arranged, spicate branches. The branches are one-sided and terminate in a bristle. Spikelets 2-flowered, 2.2-3.2 mm long; the lower floret sterile or staminate; the upper floret is bisexual. Lower glume 1-3-veined. Upper glume 5-7-veined. The upper lemma in indurate with inrolled margins clasping the palea.
