Description

An Andropogonoid grass to 1.5 m tall. Ligules composed of ciliate membranes.

Inflorescences composed of rames. The basal portion of each rame consists of homogamous, unawned, sessile-pedicellate spikelet pairs. The distal portion of the rame consists of heterogamous, awned, sessile-pedicellate spikelet pairs. The awns are geniculate, 6-10 cm long.
