Commentary

A plant of wet meadows, wet woodlands, bogs and other seepy areas.

Similar to C. folliculata and C. grayi.

The terminal staminate spike in C. intumescens tends to be narrower than that of C. folliculata and C. grayi; also it usually has a longer peduncle than C. folliculata which tends to be nearly sessile.
