Description

Fruiting period June to August.
Culm height 40 - 120 cm.
Leaf 2 - 5  mm wide.
Terminal spike    staminate; usually more than one staminate spike apically.
Lateral spike pistillate.
Perigynium

circular  in cross section. 

Achene trigonous in cross section.
Style persistent.

Habitat

Wet woodlands, wooded swamps, riparian flood plains.

Quick description

Wide perigynia to ~ 7 mm; yellow/green in coloration,
loosely enveloping achene.
