Leaf 2.5 - 8.5  mm wide.
Terminal spike staminate.
Lateral spike pistillate.
Perigynium trigonous to circular in cross section.
Achene trigonous  in cross section.
Style deciduous.

Habitat

Fens, seepy areas; calcareous soils.
