Description

Fruiting period June to August.
Culm height 10-75 cm.
Leaf 1.6-5.8 mm wide.
Terminal spike    staminate.
Lateral spike pistillate.
Perigynium

circular to subcircular in cross section; reflexed toward axis.

Achene trigonous.
Style deciduous.

Habitat

Fens, wet prairies, wet seepy areas.

Quick description

Perigynia usually reflexed downwards towards axis;
yellow coloration acheived at maturity.
