Description

Fruiting period June to September.
Culm height 25-100 cm.
Leaf 2.0-7.0 mm wide.
Terminal spike    typically staminate; occasionally gynecandrous.
Lateral spike pistillate.
Perigynium

fusiform; circular to subcircular in cross section.

Achene trigonous.
Style deciduous.

Habitat

Dry to wet woodlands, bog margins, meadows.

Quick description

Elongate perigynia to nearly 6.5 mm.; beak nearly half of perigynium body;
spikes usually pendant.
