Description

Fruiting period May to September.
Culm height 25-85 cm.
Leaf 2.0-3.5 mm wide.
Terminal spike    typically gynecandrous; late season specimens are variable.
Lateral spike pistillate.
Perigynium

biconvex in cross section; planoconvex when immature.

Achene trigonous.
Style deciduous.

Habitat

Fens, wet prairies, seepy areas.
