Description

Fruiting period June to August
Culm height 20 - 80 cm.
Leaf 3 - 5  mm wide.
Terminal spike    androgynous
Lateral spike androgynous to androgynecandrous to pistillate.
Perigynium planoconvex  in cross section. 
Achene biconvex in cross section.
Style deciduous.

Habitat

Seasonally wet to dry areas.  Meadows, sand barrens.
